Hi, I'm so glad you've made it here :)
My name is Eunhye Ju. I know it sounds different but it's not difficult to pronounce it. It's Unn Hey. Like hey!
Growing up, my family had one film camera. It was almost like a family treasure. My parents always found beauty in our day to day. When our flowerbed blossomed, it was time to go out and take photos. When we cut a watermelon up for snacks, it was time to go out and take photos. When the leaves change colors, it was time to go out and take photos. When it snowed, it was time to go out and take photos. They were also big fans of traveling. They took me everywhere. And we took the camera with us. As a child, I didn't think much of it and not gonna lie, wasn't always excited to take photos. There was one time my mom asked me to sit in front of a lettuce bed in our neighborhood, I was so embarrassed and couldn't understand her reasoning. That awkward smile I had is priceless. But I'm forever grateful for those moments. Now, those photos are my treasure. They were the first people I photographed and remain as my favorite subjects.
참 [chaam] :Real, genuine, and truthful
chaamphotos starts from right there. It embodies the essence of my mother. In Korean, it is a word that expresses heartfelt sincerity. It's used in a way that you believe in it wholeheartedly. It's the way she described everything she cherished – the weather, a delicious meal, simply feeling good. It reminds me of her warm smile, kind heart, and joyful laughter. Her ‘chaam’ love for life brings me to where I want to be through my approach to photography. And that’s where my heart is. It's all from her.
Ever since becoming a mother myself, I learned how much I meant for my parents. How much they've been loving me - indescribable joy and happiness I brought for them. I didn't care to believe that life is short that time goes in the blink of an eye. Silly me. Time flies with high speed especially with our children.
I got chattier than I wanted to be but I think you know what I mean. Our days can be mundane and don't seem special a lot of times. But then, there is a feeling strikes us and makes us say, whoa, already?
We all are a little awkward and nervous around the camera and I don’t want to say you just have to relax and be yourself. I want to spend time and learn about you and your family and be in those moments together.
I want to capture real you and want you to have that memory as long as you can. A photograph that makes you smile. A photograph that makes you feel loved. A photograph that reminds you that you lived. A photograph that lives timelessly after generations.
Because you know what, a true love story never ends.
I hope you can feel the warmth in my work and encourage any interests or inquiries. Thank you for visiting the site and let’s stay in touch on social media. I’m excited to hear from you!
